Project Description

Michigan Cashiering and Receivable System (MiCaRS) is a three-tier, multi-tenant, enterprise web application developed for the State of Michigan and used by 16 of the 19 agencies. MiCaRS is a revenue control application that allows users to record, correct, and report state revenue. In addition to supporting direct data entry, it interfaces with all the applications that the various agencies use to process agency-specific transactions and collect revenue. MiCaRS transfers agency revenue information to the state’s central accounting system.

KL&A’s first State of Michigan project was the MiCaRS predecessor, RPS, which was developed in 1993 for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. After more than two decades of maintenance, support, and enhancements and the addition of 15 other state agencies, KL&A began a large-scale initiative to modernize the application, migrate the agencies to the new version, and make necessary changes to support Michigan’s new central accounting/ERP system. MiCaRS demonstrates the integrity and utility of the systems we build and it demonstrates our ability to form long-lasting relationships with our clients.
